On September 17, 2026, the CBSE Centre of Excellence (COE), Ajmer, organized a training session on Active Learning for faculty members, facilitated by Dr. S.C. Sharma, Principal, Santan Dharam Public School, Bharatpur, and Ms. Pooja Singh, TGT, Birla Public School, Bander Sindri, Ajmer.
The session focused on transforming traditional, passive classrooms into dynamic, interactive, and learner-centred environments. The resource persons highlighted the distinction between active and passive learning, emphasizing the role of teachers as facilitators and learners as active participants in the learning process.
Key areas included student agency through Voice, Choice and Ownership, psychological safety, and the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and resilience. Participants explored practical strategies including Think-Pair-Share, Concept Mapping, Fishbowl, Gallery Walk, Case-Based Learning, Role Play, and Peer Review, among others.
The session also addressed the strengths and challenges of Active Learning, with a focus on enhancing student engagement, retention, and conceptual understanding, while effectively managing time, classroom dynamics, and group activities. The training equipped educators with practical strategies to foster meaningful, participatory, and competency-based learning in their classrooms.
