TRAINING SESSION ON POCSO, JJ ACT AND POSH BY CACA

On February 23, 2026, Project CACA conducted a training session for staff members on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (POSH). The session aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of child protection laws and workplace safety regulations, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children and employees alike.

Ms. Bhumika Gaur, Consultant Psychologist, Project CACA led the session on POCSO and apprised participants about the JJ Act, outlining key provisions, mandatory reporting requirements, types of offences, child-friendly procedures, and institutional accountability. She also briefed participants about the Juvenile Justice Act, highlighting its focus on the care, protection, rehabilitation, and social reintegration of children in need. The training strengthened educators’ understanding of child protection laws and equipped them with clear procedures for identifying, reporting, and responding to child abuse.

The POSH session was further conducted online via Zoom under the legal guidance of Ms. Janhavi Singh, Consultant Advocate at Project CACA. She provided a comprehensive overview of the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, detailing the definition and various forms of sexual harassment, preventive measures, the composition and functions of the Internal Committee, and the procedures for redressal. She also clarified the legal responsibilities of educators within the school environment.

Overall, the training session served as an important initiative to enhance legal literacy, reinforce institutional responsibility, and promote a culture of safety, dignity, and protection for both children and staff members.
